Rugs have long been considered art for the floor, adorning the fifth wall and completing a space. The Future Forms collection embodies this approach, combining aspects from iconic 20th-century American and European-centric art movements to create five designs that are artfully inspired.

When designing this collection, The Rug Company’s studio undertook a breadth of modernist design movements, discovering motifs and colours that surpass trends and engage with contemporary spaces. The result is a collection of rugs that explore kinetic form and restrained elegance, ultimately defining their own artistic movement.

Abby Olson, US Studio Director
"Our studios had a lot of fun creating the Future Forms collection. Our main goal was imbuing a sense of sophisticated playfulness through unique colour combinations and exaggerated shapes. The earthy tones of Boulder – sage, olive, and soft clay – has been my favourite colour palette lately."

Ying Ying Birabi, Head of Product Design & Collaborations (UK & Europe)
"The starting point for this collection was the mid-century design movement, but as our research developed, we were quickly drawn to broader artistic references outside of this timeframe. To incorporate these eclectic concepts into a collection, we trialled different motifs and colours in paint, paper and other design tools, meaning we were able to put our stamp on these iconic movements and create five contemporary rugs."
