Designer Spotlight: Elena Frampton
Balance is at the centre of Elena Frampton's design ethos. Her innate ability to shape space goes back to a childhood of balancing two worlds, between her maternal Mexican family in Los Angeles and the Midwestern farm of her father's side. Following two decades of work at prestigious NY-based design firms, Elena Frampton founded her interior design studio and art advisory firm, Frampton Co, in 2015.
With features in Architectural Digest, Interior Design, LUXE Interiors + Design, and Galerie, Frampton's keen eye for surprising combinations and unexpected applications makes her an unparalleled talent uniquely positioned in both the art and design worlds.
A design approach focused on pragmatism, and expressive personality translates into Frampton's bespoke design with The Rug Company, Undercover. Inspired to bring an element of the three-dimensional to a typically two-dimensional object, Elena Frampton designed Undercover using a trompe l'oeil effect. The design marries optical illusion with traditional ornamentation, as a floral-patterned rug appears to peel back from the floor at opposing corners, offering both a decorative and architectural statement within the interior space. Undercover is entirely customisable to suit the scheme of any interior.
"I wanted to explore a design with a three-dimensional quality that brings dynamic energy to the space, which is how we landed on this trompe l'oeil with a twist."
