Choosing the Perfect Rug for Your Dining Space
A rug is the unassuming champion of a dining space. It provides atmosphere, comfort and completes a setting. Follow The Rug Company’s expert advice for choosing and introducing a rug to your dining area.
Cleaning
Treat everyday spills by gently cleaning the affected area with mild soap, water and a clean white towel. For stains such as red wine, consult our experts for the best treatment methods. Using salt or white wine to treat is a myth, it is a waste and will complicate the cleaning process.
Style
Border rugs frame the furniture, defining the space with a traditional feel. Conversely, the dining space is a great place to experiment with patterns. Not only will a bold design create a contemporary aesthetic and make a room feel larger, but it will also disguise any dining spills.
Size and Placement
The size of a room does not necessarily determine the size of the rug. Instead, it’s important to consider the furniture position. In a dining space, the first and foremost rule is to ensure there is enough space around the table so that chairs can be pulled out without their legs going off the rug. We recommend choosing a rug that is at least 1.5m wider than the overall length and width of the table.
